Curriculum

Our class schedule and more detailed information regarding the four main training areas is available from the menu selection on the right.  Our four main training areas include:

COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE TRAINING

These classes prepare students for taking the Class A commercial driver's license pre-trip and road skills examinations. Training consists of classroom, shop, driving range and on highway instruction. Students follow a training curriculum which is based upon the U.S. Department of Transportation Model Curriculum for Commercial Driver Training. These classes familiarize students with commercial vehicle operating systems, rules of the road, safe loading and operating procedures. Upon completion of the training, students are tested by both the training center staff and by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Class duration is 5 weeks.

CONSTRUCTION VEHICLE DRIVER TRAINING

These classes include training in the operation of the full range of construction vehicles. Individual classes cover the operation of material hauling vehicles, water trucks and water pulls, truck mounted booms, and forklifts. Field exercises include working in a variety of construction operations including loading, spreading, compaction, dust control, material lifting and placement activities in the training area.

HAZARDOUS WASTE AND RADIOLOGICAL

Hazardous Waste Worker and Radiological Training classes are conducted at the NCTAT Rancho Murieta Training Center and throughout the Western United States. These training classes may be conducted at public facilities, labor unions and at employer places of business via mobile training units. Each mobile training unit is equipped with all the supplies necessary to provide high quality hands on training at any location.
